Ontario Cup Mountain Bike Race Gravenhurst

Gravenhurst is located in Muskoka north of Toronto and south of the Almaguin Highlands, a great location to attract between 550 - 650 riders of every age and skill level.  This race takes place in July at the Buckwallow Cycling Centre in Gravenhurst which is a tough and technical race course.  The granite on Buckwallow trails allows pretty good traction so it is not as slippery when it gets wet.  This biking trail opens every year in May so make sure you take your kids here for a fun family day of cycling or come to this event for a free race for the kids on Sunday in July in the afternoon.
Visit Crankarm Buckwallow Trail Map for more information on this great trail system.  This map posted was taken from this site.
For information on the Almaguin Highlands and other great cycling areas please contact Danette at Sand Lake Cottages & Inn.

Cyclists Bike Train to Huntsville, Ontario

Via Rail has a Bike Train now that runs from Toronto to Niagara which was launched in 2007. This Bike Train allows cyclists to take their bike instead of their car and travel to a vacation destination for a Cycling Getaway.

The Bike Train will now be making its way to Huntsville, Ontario creating an amazing attraction for Tourism. The Train has baggage cars attached to it and it's equipped with stands to accommodate 50 or 60 bicycles.

It sure is amazing that you can now take your bike from Toronto and head north to Muskoka and the Almaguin Highlands to enjoy a Vacation Getaway. In 2010 Bracebridge and Gravenhurst should also be on board with this Cyclists Getaway.

Tourism is growing more and more in the north and this should increase business again for all Cottage Rentals, Hotels, Motels, Bed and Breakfast, Cottage Resorts and Inns.
